Save web articles as clean, readable PDFs

KernPDF keeps the words and the pictures and leaves out the ads, menus and pop-ups. Choose what to keep, pick a style, and add a proper APA 7th, Harvard or AGLC4 reference. Turn a safety alert or an article into a branded one-page brief or a PowerPoint slide for a toolbox talk, and keep a library of everything you've read. It's free, there's no sign-up, and everything stays on your device.

    What's new in KernPDF

Bring in an article on your phone

    1. Open the article in Chrome and scroll to the end, so every picture has loaded.
    2. Tap ⋮ (top right), then the download arrow at the top of the menu. Chrome saves the page, pictures and all.
    3. Come back to KernPDF and tap Choose file. The page is in your Downloads; it may be called after the article's title.
PDFs, such as safety alerts, open the same way. Other browsers: use Share then Print and save it as a PDF, or copy the article and tap Paste.

    The Send to KernPDF button

Drag this button onto your browser's bookmarks bar:
    Send to KernPDF
    1. Can't see the bookmarks bar? Press Ctrl Shift B (Cmd Shift B on a Mac) to show it, then drag the button up.
    2. Open any article and scroll to the end, so every picture has loaded.
    3. Click Send to KernPDF. KernPDF opens in a new tab with the article ready to edit.
    4. If a website blocks the hand-over, KernPDF opens empty and asks you to press Ctrl V. The article is already on your clipboard.
On a phone, or the button won't drag?

Copy the button's code, add a bookmark to any page, then edit the bookmark: name it Send to KernPDF and paste the code in place of its address. On a phone, open an article, type Send to KernPDF in the address bar, and tap the bookmark.

The button only sends the page you're looking at, and only when you click it. It also leaves a copy of the article on your clipboard, in case the website blocks the hand-over.

Use a font from this computer

TrueType fonts work best. A font's licence can stop it being embedded in documents; KernPDF will tell you if so.
